Students Host Celebration Party

Senior students decided to get ahead of their game this semester and take a few college classes from College Speech to Algebra to Music Appreciation and Psychology. College Algebra was the popular college class to take and finish before college starts next fall.
“I heard that SDSU’s College Algebra class was tough, but I’ve always loved math, and so I decided that I wanted the challenge,” senior Sydney Hoffman said. “I chose to take this course in high school because it is cheaper, and I wanted to get some generals out of the way so I could focus on my core classes when I major in Human Biology and minor in Nutrition, later pursuing a Physician’s Assistant career.”
The people to take on College Algebra through the University of South Dakota consisted of senior girls Ashley Horvath, Abigal Arend, Tessa Burnham, Vanessa Hofer, Jada Wethor, Cate Meyer, Sierra Wollmann, Darby Hurd, Katelyn Kotas and Joslyn Schrank with one senior boy challenging himself, Jevin Eddy. Hoffman and Sarah Schultz took it through South Dakota State University, while Taylor Clark and Mercedes Mesman took it through Dakota State University. Senior Kinzer Glanzer took on tech math. Because College Algebra was such a time-consuming course, some of the students above decided to have a celebration party in the lounge. The girls brought cookies, puppy chow, spicy pretzels and sparkling grape juice to toast on completing the course successfully and earlier than the deadline.
“After working hard on our difficult College Algebra class for a few months, we wanted to celebrate all of our hard workings by bringing in treats for everyone in the class to add onto our feelings of accomplishment,” Burnham said. “Everyone had a lot of fun celebrating at the end of this tough class.”
Seniors will, again, take college courses next semester to try and get generals out of their way when entering as a freshman in college this coming fall.
