Prom Preview: Casino Night
By Jada Wethor on April 16, 2019
The Bridgewater-Emery prom this year will be held on Friday, April 26th at the gym.
The theme put on by the junior class is ‘Casino Night.’ To save money this year, the juniors have decided to rent and use decorations that the school already has rather than buying a brand-new kit. The juniors will set up Monday, April 22.
The juniors have fundraised this year for the prom by selling Little Caesars Pizza, working concession stands and selling Huskie and Seahawk apparel.
“The juniors have been busy fundraising throughout the year to put together a great prom,” junior class advisor Jessie VanLeur said. “This year will hopefully go much smoother with renting decorations as we won’t have to assemble as much. I always enjoy seeing each student dressed in their best for a night.”
The night will start out with a banquet at 6 p.m. at Feathers at the Ranch for the juniors and seniors along with their date and teachers. They will be serving steak tips with grilled onions and pepper along with steak fries, salad, pudding dessert and drinks. Juniors vote on four freshmen to serve the banquet. This year's servers include Chloe Schmitt, Taylor Schallenkamp, Koby Kayser and Hunter Bailey.
“I can’t wait to eat the delicious meal being served at the lodge,” sophomore Hunter Uptagrafft said. “Also looking forward to my smoking hot date, Cate Meyer!”
The next event on the agenda is Grand March starting at 8 p.m. The junior class also vote on two sophomores to be escorts for anyone who would like to walk through the Grand March but do not have a date. Escorts for this year are Rylee Schultz and Kerrigan Schultz.
Following the Grand March is the dance which starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 12 a.m. The DJ this year is Adam Sieff from DJ Sieff Style.
“I am really looking forward to prom because I get to hang out with my friends and dance all crazy and stuff,” senior Jamin Arend said. “I hope I am able to get one of the big prizes at After-Prom.”
Immediately following the dance will be the After-Prom party which will be held in the multipurpose room. Parents who have graciously volunteered have put together a fun-filled night of activities. There will be casino games, a hypnotist, prizes and food. The After-Prom party will get done at 3:30 a.m.
“I am looking forward to hanging out with friends at my first prom,” freshman Jared Vinz said. “I think the hypnotist sounds pretty cool.”
The gym will be closed starting Monday, April 22.
