No. 4 Ethan Take Down Huskies

By Kerrigan Schultz on October 1, 2018
The Ethan Rustlers took down the B-E Huskies in volleyball action Tuesday, Sept. 25 in four sets.

“We lost some momentum at crucial times in set one and set four which could have made a difference in the outcome,” assistant coach Christena Schultz said. “We played a strong defensive match and just didn’t compare on the offensive side. Ethan has many strengths that can just wear a team down.”

The Rustlers took the first set from the Huskies 26-24. B-E came back from a seven-point deficit to take the second set 23-25. The Rustlers won the next two sets 25-16 and 25-20 to get the win over B-E.

Leading the Rustlers was senior Jessica Bartscher who handed out 37 assists, along with 12 digs and four kills. Junior Jada Plastow also helped the Rustlers to a victory adding 26 digs, 15 kills and two blocks, while senior Karly Gustafson had 12 kills and junior Maddie Miller also pitched in 33 digs for Ethan.

For the Huskies, junior Sophia Potter led in defeat with 13 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Kerrigan Schultz also had 10 digs, seven assists and three aces. Senior Joslyn Schrank came up with a team-high 15 digs and three aces while senior Katelyn Kotas, also pitched in 10 digs for the Huskies.

“We played aggressive and we played our hardest,” freshman Julia Weber said. “Our defensive was aggressive, and our passes were easy to get to. Also, our serves were over and in and aggressive which also helped.”

The Huskies JV and C team both took wins 2-0 respectively.
