Bridgewater-Emery Huskies girls basketball team is looking to improve its season. Last year the Huskies ended their regular season 9-13 with a loss in the region finals and are looking to advance their season.
“We are looking forward to a great season,” head coach Jessie VanLeur said. “The girls have shown great dedication to the game by putting in numerous hours in the gym and weight room during the offseason.”
The Huskies have added a few new teams to their schedule including: Wessington-Springs, Parker, and Burke/South Central.
“I am very excited for this season,” senior Tessa Burnham said. “We are a really talented team and have everyone back from
last year. I hope we continue to improve every game and are playing our very best by the end of the season.”
The Huskies returned all of their players from last years season and are putting in a lot of hard work to make this season a promising one. B-E is led by three seniors, Abigal Arend, Burnham and Jada Wethor. B-E They have always talked about making themselves and the team better along with making it to the state tournament in March.
“We are looking good in practice,” Arend said. “With hard work, teamwork, and returning everyone from last year I feel we should have a competitive team. As being a senior I have enjoyed working with my coaches and teammates and want to finish my last year as an example for younger players in the program.”
The girls seasons starts off on December 8 vs Wessington Springs Spartans in Emery.
