Huskies Take Another Win Against the Bearcats

Bridgewater-Emery Huskies defeated Freeman Academy/Marion Bearcats in Emery Tuesday, Oct. 2 in four sets. The set scores were 18-25, 25-7, 25-19 and 25-15.
In the first set, the Bearcats took two long runs, in which powered them to finish the set strong, and the Huskies could not come back losing the set 18-25.
“We have been starting off slow in the first set the last few games, and I think that is something that we are going to start working on in practice to change for the next few final games and before the postseason,” senior Sydney Hoffman said.
The Huskies took charge right from the beginning in the second set. They got on a long run that led them into their first set win 27-7. In the third set, the Bearcats came back stronger, equalizing the competition, but the Huskies finished 25-19. The game ended with the Huskies taking it home fourth set 25-15.
“It was a fun game to play after we picked up our energy and effort in the second set,” junior Kennedee Weber said.
Weber led the team with 10 kills, and Hoffman followed with nine kills, two blocks and two ace serves. Senior Joslyn Schrank led the team defensively with 21 digs and three ace serves, and senior Katelyn Kotas followed with 13 digs. Kotas and junior
Haley Schultz also each pitched in five kills each. Junior Sophia Potter carried the team in assists totaling 14 with three ace serves, and sophomore Kerrigan Schultz followed with 13 assists and 11 digs.
The JV team won their match as well. After defeating the Bearcats, the Huskies held an 11-5 record.
