Huskies Defeat Bon Homme Cavaliers

Bridgewater-Emery girls basketball defeated the Bon Homme Cavaliers Monday, Jan. 14. The victory over the Cavaliers final score was 73-47.
“Overall the game against Bon Homme was a great Huskie win,” senior Abigal Arend said. “We really played well as a team and scored early in the game and continued to push the points in the second half of the game.”
The Huskies scored early in the game making the score going into halftime 34-31. The final score against the Cavaliers was 73-47. The second half the Huskies made 39 points compared to the Cavaliers 16 points.
“We put up a lot of shots in the game against the Cavaliers,” freshman Julia Weber said. “We tried to find the open girl on the court and we kept making the next pass. During the second half of the game, we really excelled in making points.”
Bon Homme sophomore McKenzie Carson lead scorer had 19 points, nine rebounds, one steal. Junior Ciera Himes contributed 11 points, five rebounds and junior Jenae Alberts brought down eight rebounds.
“First half we struggled defensively with help side on their big girl and rebounding,” head coach Jessie VanLeur said. “Second half we came out stronger and made some big plays right away to put them behind. We did a nice job finishing the game.”
Arend was leading scorer with 21 points and Julia Weber followed with 16 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Kerrigan Schultz contributed 13 point and five rebounds while junior Kennedee Weber added 10 points, five rebounds and two steals. Each of the four girls contributed multiple three-pointers. Senior Jada Wethor had five points and three rebounds. The Huskies finished the game with 30 rebounds (17 offensive/13 defensive), and ten steals.
