The Huskies continue to add to their winning streak from last year, including the recent game hosted by the Dell Rapids Saint Mary’s Cardinals Dec. 11. The Huskies fought their hardest until the end and pulling off a win against the Cardinals.
“We started out a little slow and I felt we were trying too hard to make a great play. We were aggressive and committed some early fouls before we settled in and started playing our game. I thought we played well throughout the second half and started to feel more comfortable on the floor as the game went on,” head coach Scott Schultz said.
Prior to the varsity game, the Dell Rapids’s police and fire department asked the varsity players, cheerleaders and coaches to hold a candle in the middle of the court to remember the ones lost due to drunk driving and drugs in the community. To pay tribute to the lives lost, the lights went out and a moment of silence was taken.

Guard Jamin Arend snatched Dye’s tip and went in for an unsuccessful layup, but center Duot VanSickle recovered Jamin’s layup to add the first basket of the game. Even though the Huskies did not score that possession, they had many other opportunities to score, and the Huskies chose to do so. Throughout the second quarter, both teams found themselves in bonus.
