Huskie Boys Defeat Viborg/Hurley Cougars

Bridgewater-Emery boys traveled to Viborg/Hurley on Saturday, Feb. 16. They brought home a 62-45 victory.
“It was a great game to end the regular season on,” senior Jamin Arend said. “We had a tough loss against Parker the night before, but we bounced back from it and wanted to get this one. I can not wait to see what happens for us in the postseason.”
The Huskie boys started the game off strong putting up points early in the game. The score at the end of the first quarter was 14-10. In the second quarter, the Huskies were able to score 19 points while holding the Cougars to 13 points. Going into halftime the score was 33-23. Both teams came out during the third quarter battling back-and-forth. The Huskies finished the game with a 62-45 victory.
“We really focused on rebounding this game,” senior Sawyer Schultz said. “Not giving them second chances was key to winning. This game helped us get back and ready for regions starting next week. We are going to take it one game at a time to get where we want to be at the end of the postseason.”
For the Viborg/Hurley Cougars, sophomore Chase Mason was leading scorer with 13 points and four rebounds. Senior Brodee Sherman added 11 points, four rebounds and sophomore Gradee Sherman contributed ten points and nine rebounds.
Schultz scored 28 points, 17 rebounds, three steals, while senior Carter Dye chipped in 13 points, four rebounds. Jamin Arend had 11 points, six rebounds and junior Chase Arend had five points, four rebounds and three steals.
Bridgewater-Emery finished the game with 39 rebounds, seven assists and six steals. From the field, B-E was 20 of 46 for 43 percent and 18 of 24 for 75 percent from the line.
With the victory, the Huskies ended their regular season with a record of 16-4 seeding them number one in Region 5B.
