Favorite Lunchroom Meals

Some kids are picky eaters, and others are not. Everyone has their favorite meal and their least favorite, and the students at Bridgewater-Emery are no different.
“My favorite meal at school is hard to pick, but I would say that I get really excited on hamburger day,” senior Sierra Wollmann said.
I interviewed cook, Teresa Wagner, to find out what meals she notices are more well-liked. She said some of the favorites are hamburgers, chicken nuggets, chef salad, stroganoff and pizza. To find out if this is true, I sent out a survey to the high school students of B-E about school lunch. The results indicated that the top five most favorited meals are (1 to 5): chicken nuggets with rotini alfredo, hamburgers with fries, pizza with corn, chicken patties with broccoli and cheese and chef salad with macaroni and cheese. The chicken nuggets with rotini alfredo serves good to the majority of the students because it is considered a comfort meal, and the serving sizes are very reasonable.
“I love the chicken tender meal with rotini alfredo the best,” sophomore Keesha Letcher said. “I like to dip the tenders in the alfredo sauce.”
Speaking with Wagner, I asked her what her favorite meal is, and which is her favorite to cook. Her favorite meal agrees with the students.
“Alfredo and pasta has always been one of my favorite meals, whether it’s at school or not,” Wagner said. “My favorite meals to cook are those types of meals that are well liked by students. Some meals are easier to cook like corn dogs, and those days are nice sometimes because no prep is really required.”
Aside from the lunch hour, the kitchen staff also works to make breakfast in the morning. Before speaking with the cooks,
Joyce Fluth had just completed preparing the caramel sauce for the rolls in the morning, and later that night, I saw her come in after hours to further prepare them.
“Some meals take much preparation and work, but I enjoy doing it because I know the kids really appreciate it,” Fluth said.
Don’t forget to thank the kitchen staff for the next meal they prepare for you.
