Battle Until the End

By Kerrigan Schultz on February 25, 2019
Bridgewater-Emery Huskies boys basketball team took on the Parker Pheasants Friday, Feb. 15 in Emery. The Huskies took their fourth loss on the season losing 54-56.

It was a battle throughout the entire game until in the second quarter the Pheasants extended the lead to 12 points going into halftime. The Huskies came out after halftime with little energy while Parker brought high intensity and kept extending the lead.

“We played with more intensity in the second half, but our cold shooting didn’t help us in the first half,” senior Sawyer Schultz said.

Going into the fourth quarter the Huskies trailed by 14 points early managing a comeback. The B-E boys were within 6 points and both crowds were on their feet and it was a different Huskies basketball team. With 10 seconds left the pheasants dribbled down the court and put up a floater, missed but got the tip in a rebound to go up by 2. The Huskies dribbled down the court and called a quick time out to set up a play. With time expiring the Huskies got a shot up and it went just off the front of the rim to give the Pheasants the win.

“I thought we could have brought more intensity,” head coach Scott Schultz said. “They had some good defense especially in the paint which was hard to take it to the hole. I was proud of the way we fought back in the second half after being down by 12 or so. It’s just one of those learning moments for us when it comes to the postseason.”

For the Huskies, senior Carter Dye notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sawyer Schultz added 16 points while senior Jamin Arend had 14.
