B-E Students Decorate Trees at Diamond Care Center
By Cassidy Stacken on December 15, 2017
Many B-E students decorated the Diamond Care Center Christmas tree Dec. 1 with homemade ornaments. The ornaments were made from random items found around the house. Cotton balls, paper plates, spray paint, popsicle sticks and buttons were all used as well as some items that you would find outside such as sticks, pinecone branches and bean pods. With these items and the students’ creative minds, one-of-a-kind ornaments were created.
The ornaments were fun, creative and a unique way to use unneeded items around the house. The students enjoyed making the ornaments and expressing their artistic views through them. The students that participated included Branden Kinkead, Kollin O’Day, Marissa O’Day, Larissa Graves, Kaden Trautman, Cassidy Stacken, Zack Trautman, Andrew Jaeger, Shelby Tolle, Mady Leitheiser, Cadin Cullison, Kenny Tschetter, Landon Hofer and Aryana Martinez.
The residents at the Dimond Care Center were happy and pleased to see the decorations hanging on the tree and all the work that the students had put into the ornaments.
“I think that the students enjoyed designing and making the ornaments, decorating the tree and visiting with the residents,” Mrs. VanLeur said.
After the students decorated the tree, they visited with the residents as they ate their breakfast.
“I would say they were happy. They were all a little shy at first, but after a few minutes they started to talk to us more,” Kollin O’Day said.
The holidays bring opportunities such as these to give back to the community and spread joy and happiness. The B-E students put a lot of effort into this project and created beautiful, unique ornaments that brightened the Diamond Care Center’s Christmas tree and its residents’ hearts.
